Pratiti, on progress re: well-being research, my statement was meant to be "as of beginning of this year/ through 2020" not more recently. know you've been working on this a lot (that l can only imagine has been l crazy to do) and had no intention to weigh in on that more recent progress. Apologies. Not urgent, but if there is a quick summary of the recent progress that is sharable with me, that'd be helpful. Emily, agree with your framing. l think #3 and #4 are a bit dependent, like we can do a one-off escalation to get some of the Problematic Use stuff moving (#3), but l think we'll want to do ongoing coordination and adjustment within that topic and across topics, and we don't get that without #4. think we might also want to I spin up more re: Eating Disorders. So if we just do the one-off l expect we'll be back in the same place in a few months / the work will inevitably drift, since we won't have the ongoing central ownership. We've made a lot of progress on research and data sharing. We've not made a lot of progress on getting the research into product. We aren't planning to reset or change the strategy APPROVED by Cox/ Nick in August. i-"PWP Our P0 is getting the relevant product team to EXECUTE against the APPROVED strategy. Our P1 is getting net-new resourcing for the central well-being product team. We will escalate both #3 and #4 to Pratiti/Cox/Naomi/etc. next week. < From: Pratiti Raychoudhury Date: Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 12:21 PM To: Kang-Xing Jin _ Cc: Emily Dalton Smith- Subject: Re: Well Being research CONFIDENTIAL PROTECTED BY CONFIDENTIALITY AGREEMENT - MT-lG-AG-OO189014 One thing disagree with is that for data sharing/ ext research we haven't made progress. On data sharing/ research, I'm less sure what is needed (or specific goals/ timelines) since haven't been tracking as closely. But agree having a solid PM just on that Would also probably be important -- in addition to the research functions. And given the MZ well-being external research review worked on for | this topic in 2019, l 100% agree we've made not a lot of progress here in the last 2 years, so do need a re-set of approach and strategy. A few thoughts that l have: CONFIDENTIAL PROTECTED BY CONFIDENTIALITY AGREEMENT - MT-lG-AG-00189019 o For external research, we need to make a decision on data sharing quickly (given the concerns from IR). We have already identified that the longitudinal correlative study and the millennium cohort studies are the 2 best ones to start with. Both Oll and us are ready to go as soon as we make a decision. I'll get this group and -+ o _ogether. We are also planning to do a more RFP style approach, similar to USZOZO. We are cataloging all the data needed for this and suspect will run into similar concerns from IR and legal. (These data sets will be more complex than the ones we want to share with Oll). o Look for "special" collaborations similar to what we did with Raj Chetty and social - capital o Red-team all existing research we have internally on mental health and teens. In the event of leaks, we can respond much faster. 0 Create a one-pager (similar to the Polarization and Bullying and Harassment ones). This will provide a holistic view (internally) on teens and mental health since so far our response is based only on the leaked studies. If these sound about right, I'll frame this up for us.
