Guided Value Model

The automated process for tuning News Feed ranking weights: it halves and doubles the weight on every major relevance term, feeds the result to an algorithm told to optimise for sessions and VPVs, and returns weight changes. An employee cites it as the mechanical answer to Meta's public denial that it tunes for scrolling - "except mechanically we absolutely do through a process called the 'guided value model' (GVM) process".
